Was just over at Comenhagenize.com when I came across this article. Titled "Plastic Fantastic Bike Racks" and as you can see from the picture above (also from the article) that his really is a great idea. I have got to wonder how long they would last in a place like here in Pittsburgh (probably longer than in other places) and the idea of not worrying about riding home on a wet seat is well, plastic fantastic!
One Fat Guy on a Big Orange Bike riding and loving it. Here I talk about biking and everything related to it.

Cargo bike love
Found this on EcoVelo and I just love this (small minus for both very short political rant and an F-bomb) so be warned before you click play.

It's called KIT
Cycling Clothes, Its called cycling Kit. Special clothes that you wear for just cycling...
I know what your thinking, I made fun of them as well.
Until I bought my first Cycling Jersey. I picked up an Arrogant Bastard Cycling jersey in my size (double extra tubby - 4XL - yeah I really am that big) and I bought pretty much cause it was a beer shirt, and the beer was one of my favorites. Still I was not prepared for just how wonderfully comfortable the shirt was. it pulled the sweat away form my skin and allowed air to flow. it almost felt like I wasn't wearing a shirt at all.
I started to think that maybe, just maybe, these people who designed these actually knew what they are doing. so a few weeks later while I'm at REI looking at a set of padded shorts and I come across these padded boxers - which will give me the comfort of cycling shorts without actually making me wear cycling shorts.
I almost broke down and cried. - yes I know it isn't manly but it is the truth.
I bought them. I'm not ashamed to admit it. Now my biggest problem is I have to do laundry all the time so I have clean cycling clothes to wear each morning for my ride to work. (I don't wear the shirt all the time but I refuse to ride without the shorts - yes they do make that much of a difference.)
I guess next is the rain and winter gear. we shall see.

Contour 1080p Helmet cam
So the guys over at Engadget have reviewed the Contour GPS 1080p Helmet cam and you can read the whole review over at their site. The Embedded GPS allows your videos to also have a Google Maps based interface that will show position, altitude and speed next to the video.
From the review it is said that these 349$ cams will be popping up in some of the higher end helmets soon.

E-assist Cargo Bike
Found at http://bicycledesign.net
This showed up in my Google reader from the fine people over at bicycledesign.net and is an attempt do design an E-Bike (Bike with Electrical Assist) to be a possible replacement for the 2nd Car.
I for one think this idea has a great deal of merit to it and you can read the whole article (as well as see more photos) at http://bicycledesign.net/2010/08/urban-arrow-a-new-bakfiets-design/
Check it out it even comes with a Cup Holder!!

Precious
"Precious" is the name of the bicycle modified by New York makers Zolty, Mattias Gunneras, and Michael Lipton of Breakfast. The project started when its rider, Janeen, had decided to ride across the US on the TransAmerica Trail to raise money for LIVESTRONG. The crew at Breakfast wanted to lend support and saw it as an opportunity to create something different and exciting.
They ended up outfitting Precious with a new "brain" consisting of a custom microcontroller board, GPS, and GSM module. Temperature, humidity, speed, cadence, grade, direction, and location are sent to the cloud via SMS. This data is then processed and displayed on the bike's website yesiamprecious.com
Precious's brain is an on-board device that captures all of his experiences, combined with a cloud-based system that analyzes those experiences. Put this all together and get a bike that's able to express itself in his own words. He shares his up-to-the-moment thoughts, and has a subconscious which allows him to dream about all he’s been through. Take a peak into how his brain functions below...
Join Precious andJaneen as they attempt cross this country and raise money for LIVESTRONG (Something I am a supporter of) as part of Team Fatty. Follow every sweatin’ mile, every dog chase, every brain fart Precious has, and then show your support by donating to their LIVESTRONG Challenge page.
